Admissions
The Trust Board of Westcountry Schools Trust (WeST) is the admissions authority for all schools in the trust. Trustees are responsible for the admissions policies and decisions when there is an application for admission, although on an operational level this is delegated to Headteachers with executive oversight from the Director of Safeguarding.
WeST schools have an admissions policy for each academic year. Policies are written to comply with the School Admissions Code 2021 and the School Admissions Appeals Code 2022. Schools in WeST take part in the normal round and the in-year co-ordinated admissions schemes maintained by the relevant Local Authority, who publish their own information to support admission applications and the appeals process.
Admissions policies for 2027-28: Annual Consultation
We are consulting on an admission policy for 2027-28. The Local Authority is also consulting on its arrangements – the admissions schemes through which you can apply. You are invited to look at the proposal new policies which are based on policies for this year and next year and to have your say on them.

The consultation runs between 1 November and 16 January 2026.
Policies will be determined by the end of February and published on school websites by 15 March 2026.

Co-ordinated Admissions Arrangements
Normal round admissions - our schools are located across three local authority (LA) areas: Cornwall Council, Devon County Council and Plymouth City Council. The local authorities take part in the co-ordinated admissions schemes operated across geographical areas and there is a common closing date for applications: 15 January for the first intake into Reception/Foundation classes and 31 October each year for the transition into secondary school. Normal round admissions are made to the LA wherever a child lives.
For in-year admissions – at any other time after the start of Reception/Foundation and for Year 7 - 11 – applications are made to the LA where the school is located.
For sixth-form admissions, applications are made direct to the sixth forms themselves. Local authorities are not involved in Sixth Form admissions arrangements.
