Are you looking to join a dedicated and well-qualified central team supporting the work of some 2000 staff committed to delivering exceptional education?

WeST is a complex schools trust that is maturing rapidly, and this post provides an exciting opportunity to join an organisation with students and staff at its heart, built on an extensive track record of excellence.

The Trust consists of 22 schools (secondary colleges and primary) and a Teaching and Learning Institute.  Our schools are in relatively close geographical proximity to one another, across south Devon, Plymouth and south east Cornwall. The role will involve regular travel to, and working from, a defined portfolio of school sites. We are positioned in the heart of the south west peninsula, a stone’s throw from some of the most picturesque countryside and coastal locations in the UK.

Working in a fast-paced environment as part of the core HR Team, the post holder will provide advice and support on a broad range of employee relations matters helping to ensure timely progression of queries and cases in line with Trust policies, employment legislation and best practice guidance. Stakeholder management is key and there will be a high level of interaction with customers at all levels in the provision of advice and guidance.

You should be qualified to at least Associate CIPD level, with demonstrable experience of providing advice and guidance about employee relations issues in a customer facing HR environment. You will be a strong team player with the ability to work on your own initiative and make judgements within the boundaries of the role, along with a knowledge of a broad range of HR practices and procedures acquired through training and experience.  You will have an excellent standard of verbal and written communication, being able to convey advice clearly and concisely, and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to quickly develop successful working partnerships.

The Trust offers memberships of the Local Government Pension Scheme; a salary-related, defined benefit scheme and one of the most generous in the UK.

We would be keen to hear from dedicated and passionate HR professionals, including those who may be looking to build upon foundation level employee relations experience.  We are seeking to appoint at grade E or F dependent upon experience and career stage; candidates are asked to tailor their application to the most appropriate job description, although we reserve the right to make an offer at the grade deemed to be appropriate following assessment.

For an informal discussion regarding the role please contact Jocelyn Davis, Director of Human Resources, on mob. 07799730789.

Applications forms are available from  and completed applications should be submitted to this address by mid-night Sunday 31st May 2020.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
