Westcountry Schools Trust is seeking to recruit an Academic Professional. The Trust is looking for an individual to deliver a defined range of teaching activities and undertake pedagogic research to support teaching and learning development. 

Academic Professional - Initial Teacher Education - Part time fixed-term posts (various hours, 12 months)

Salary: Full Time Equivalent £33,199 - £39,609 (Academic Professional Grade 7 (SCP 30-36)

Location: Across WeST Learning Institute delivery venues (Roche, Cornwall & Plymstock) and partner schools

This is an exciting opportunity to join the newly created Westcountry Schools Trust, currently employing approximately 2000 staff and growing. We are a dynamic organisation with our students and staff at our heart. Built on an extensive track record of excellence, the Trust combines a range of secondary colleges, primary schools and the WeST Learning Institute based in a variety of sites across Devon and Cornwall. We are also a stone’s throw from some of the best beaches and countryside in the country.

The main purpose of this role is to contribute to and lead in the provision of high-quality teacher training by way of tuition, mentoring and assessment of trainee progress in practice and reflection.

As such a successful applicant would deliver a defined range of teaching activities and undertake pedagogic research to support teaching and learning development. The role may combine elements of teaching, scholarship, engagement working and administration. The ideal candidate will have achieved, or be working towards, membership of the Higher Education Academy or equivalent.

We are seeking applicants for multiple part-time, fixed-term posts with different specialisms for a period of 12 months:

  • early years & primary education
  • secondary subject expertise in Business Studies or PE or Art & Design or Science or Music
  • reflective practice and the marking of professional portfolios

Successful applicants will be awarded roles ranging between approximately 0.026FTE (45 working hours) and 0.086FTE (150 working hours).
