Welcome to this week’s rather lengthy edition of the Wednesday whistle.
I can’t believe how quickly this term is passing. We are racing towards the festive season and unbelievably there are only 16 teaching days left.
Rob Haring, CEO
Thank you to everyone who participated in the recent whole Trust staff survey! You may recall from the earlier Wednesday Whistle articles that 784 colleagues participated and this equated to 37.7% across the Trust.
We are now pleased to share a summary report of the whole Trust data. A copy is also available on the staff portal for all colleagues to review.
This report has also been shared with our union colleagues at JCNC and Wellbeing Network colleagues.
The Executive Team reviewed this report on 19th November and are committed to exploring relevant action plans linked to the feedback themes. This detailed work is ongoing at present and we wanted to take this opportunity to assure colleagues your feedback is a valuable part of shaping our Trust.
Individual school based data has been shared with senior leaders to explore local elements.
More details on next steps to follow shortly in future Whistle articles, and anticipated before the end of term.
Thank you to everyone who shared their feedback in this process. Should you have any queries on the staff survey process or action plans please contact HR@westst.org.uk
WeST continues to work with the Able Futures service on support for staff in the workplace. The provider offers a number of services and has launched a new webinar session in preparation for the festive period which we are pleased to share with you:
This time of year may bring much to look forward to, though for some it can be a very difficult time. Able Futures would like to provide some advice on ways to feel better leading up to and during the festive period.
This session will talk through different issues that may affect our wellbeing during the festive season and mean we find it harder to cope. The session will explore what support can be provided and is completely confidential (there is no camera or microphone function for attendees, WeST will not know details of any participants).
Session: 6th December at 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (recoding can be provided)
Registration: to register to participate live or receive a recording of the session to view at your convenience please visit click here.
December Pay Dates
Dear all, this is a polite reminder of the December Pay Dates across the Trust. Please find these for each payroll provider below:
As an employer, WeST continues to operate both the Teachers Pension Scheme (TPS) and Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS). The details of these schemes require us as an employer to annually prepare a pensions discretion policy about how we operate within the scheme terms. A new document is proposed for this academic year and has been shared with; Remuneration Committee, trade union representatives, and senior leaders. This years document has increased information on pension terminology and conditions. Please be assured there is no change to the operation of these pension schemes proposed.
The proposed policy is attached for your information and we would welcome any feedback between now and 8th December 2021. Please submit any feedback to HR@westst.org.uk. While the terms of the policy are limited by the schemes, it’s important that this is a user friendly policy so we’d welcome any input.
