I begin this weekly digest by extending a heartfelt congratulations to our Year 6 children for successfully completing their KS2 SATs. Their hard work and dedication has been truly commendable, and I express my gratitude to everyone involved in the administration of the SATs, as well as our incredible Year 6 teaching team. Your efforts behind the scenes are invaluable and contribute significantly to the on-going success of our children.

Meanwhile, our Year 11 students continue with their GCSE examinations, with today's focus on GCSE Chemistry. It's uplifting to note the marked improvement in Year 11 attendance this week, reflecting their commitment and determination.

Attendance remains a priority within our trust, and it was inspiring to witness the Attendance Leads network convene to share strategies for enhancing attendance. Special thanks to Katie for her insightful case study. I'm confident that our collective efforts will continue to drive attendance as a key school improvement priority in the coming year.

In Geography, our Year 12 students enjoyed an enriching experience at our annual NEA launch at Plymouth University. This event provided invaluable insights into the NEA, along with the opportunities and challenges it presents. I extend my gratitude to Nicola Dowling and all contributors for making this day possible.

Additionally, this week saw several collaborative network events, including the WeST Aspiring Leaders Programme led by Marc Cooper, the MFL Head of Department network facilitated by Jenni Bindon, and the English Primary Leads network led by Rebecca Cosgrave. It's heartening to witness the dedication and enthusiasm displayed in these gatherings.

As we reflect on the past week's achievements and collaborations, let us continue to aspire to greater heights. Together, we can inspire excellence and foster success for all across our trust.

Best wishes,

Rob Haring

CEO

Sustainability and Climate Change

You may recall in the March issues of the Whistle, WeST sought your engagement in our Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy, by completing two short surveys.

This is a gentle reminder that this is your last chance to complete the surveys below. The data the team will gather from this is crucial to developing for carbon footprint, targets and ultimate net-zero roadmap.

Travel Survey

This short survey is to capture our collective commuter/travel habits, which will inform our carbon footprint calculations. The survey itself is simple and will take around 2 minutes to complete, so please do ensure you take part.

Materiality Survey

A materiality survey is where you place the various statements listed in the survey in order of importance. The survey itself is simple and will take around 3–4 minutes to complete, so please do ensure you take part.
