We are pleased to launch our new staff survey for all colleagues at WeST to provide feedback!

Initially the survey will be open 20th October - 5th November and offers the opportunity for you to share your views and help shape our positive wellbeing culture and strategy as an employer.

The short survey has 15 questions to share your perspective and has evolved from feedback on last years survey. You can access this link on any internet enabled device or use the QR code. Results will be anonymous and every entry will be reviewed centrally. A summary of the results will be published in future editions of the Wednesday Whistle.

WeST Winter Flu Jabs

Have you requested your voucher and booked your jab?

 

The Trust are proud to confirm we have partnered with Boots pharmacy to deliver a limited number of flu vaccinations to staff who do not already meet the NHS free vaccine eligibility.  We encourage all staff to take up the offer of a flu jab via one of these pathways. We still have a VERY LIMITED number of vouchers remaining!

 

You are eligible if:

· Aged 50 or over

· Have certain health conditions.

· You are pregnant

· You live with someone who is at high risk of coronavirus

· You receive a carer's allowance for an older or disabled person who is at risk.

· Have a weakened immune system due HIV, AIDS, Steroid Treatments or Chemotherapy

· Being very overweight – a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above

· Neurological conditions, such as MS, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinsons.

You can have the NHS Flu Vaccine at:

· Your GP Surgery

· A Pharmacy offering free NHS Jabs

· Your Midwifery Service (if pregnant)

Earlier this week saw

World Menopause Day 2021.

This is held every year on the 18th October, the purpose of the day is to raise awareness of the menopause and the support options available for improving health and wellbeing

Menopause is a life stage
The menopause is a natural stage of life. It usually happens between 45 and 55 years of age but it can also happen earlier or later in someone's life. According to ACAS, women going through the menopause are now the fastest growing demographic in the workplace. It’s more important than ever for everyone to have a good understanding of the menopause and how they can support colleagues.

WeST Developments

The successful candidate will work very closely with the school SENDCo in leading the day to day SEND provision across the College. South Dartmoor Community College have the following vacancies: 

Sports Officer - You will be required to work with the School Games Organiser to plan and co-ordinate events and competitions. Your role will also involve working in a range of primary schools to deliver curriculum PE and after school clubs. Closing Date: Thursday 21 October 2021.

Premises Manager and H&S Co-ordinator - The successful candidate will be hardworking, self-motivated and enjoy working in a team as well as under their own initiative. Eggbuckland Community College are looking for the following vacancies:

Kitchen Porter - 15 hours per week, 38 weeks per year. Grade A, actual starting salary £6,031 per year. A reliable person is required to ensure the kitchen equipment and servery area are kept clean and tidy. Working hours are from 11.45am to 2.45pm, Monday to Friday, as part of the kitchen team, assisting with the preparation and service of “safe” food in a hygienic environment.  Duties include packing/unpacking the dishwasher, cleaning up spillages, emptying bins, clearing away tables.  A Food Hygiene certificate would be advantageous. Closing date: 9am, Friday 29th October 2021. 

Temporary Teaching Assistant Grade C - 26 hrs/wk, 38 wks/yr, actual starting salary: £11,358 per year. Eggbuckland are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant as soon as possible to work in the Hearing Support Centre on a fixed term contract until July 2022.  This role involves supporting students who are d/Deaf / hearing impaired and to enhance an already highly successful and motivated team.  Candidates must be willing to train up to the Level 2 qualification in British Sign Language.  Experience of working with students with hearing loss would be advantageous, but training will be provided. Closing date: 9am, Friday 29th October 2021. 

ICT Support Technician Grade C, actual starting salary £17,947 per annum. Eggbuckland are looking to appoint an ICT Support Technician to assist the ICT Support Team. The ICT Support Technician will help the ICT Support Team to maintain the College network and provide support to ECCTS customers. The ICT Support Technician will be under the direction of the ICT Support Manager but will also be able to use their own initiative. Closing date for applications: 9am, Friday 5th November 2021.
