Thank you for your support of our slightly amended routines since returning from the half term break. Students have responded really well to our raised expectations and, as a result, the amount of learning time afforded to lesson change over and COVID – 19 safety measures has been significantly reduced. These tightened systems are in line with the national picture of Coronavirus management and our continued efforts to keep everyone safe.
Please find below a message from our trust, WeST:
The Westcountry Schools Trust will continue to put the interests of our children and young people at the heart of everything we do. Following our return in September, pupils have quickly settled back into school routines and we have implemented a wide range of protective measures in place keep our staff and pupils as safe as possible. Schools will remain open throughout the national lockdown, and unless a child falls into the 'Clinically Extremely Vulnerable' category, attendance at school is expected. We recognise that some people will be anxious about this, and we encourage any parents who are worried to contact their school to discuss their concerns. In line with updated guidance from the DfE, we can confirm that the wearing of face coverings by both staff and pupils, is now compulsory across England for all pupils in Year 7 and above when moving around the premises, outside of classrooms, such as in corridors and communal areas where social distancing cannot easily be maintained. This approach had already been in place across all WeST schools since September. However, under the new compulsory national guidance, unless exemption applies, every child is expected to wear a face covering in the appropriate designated areas. Refusal to do so may result in further disciplinary action. Should any child forget to bring one to school, a disposable face covering will always be provided.
The Westcountry Schools Trust would like to thank all parents for their continued support during this time of national challenge.
With our thanks and best wishes,
Mrs J Veal
